Nancy Volner, 17, is a rising senior at Orange Lutheran High School in Orange County, California.

Nancy balances her high school cheer team with an interest in social media. She plans to pursue a career in advertising and one day hopes to run the social media of a professional sports team. She runs her school’s baseball team’s instagram.

In the fall, Nancy is set to co-captain her cheer team with close friend Cora Cooper. She said the three years on the team have helped her grow in her technique and gain confidence during performances, overcoming the highly competitive and critical nature of the sport. She said she and her co-captain hope to build a strong foundation while creating a strong sisterhood throughout the team.

Although these pursuits may seem daunting to some, Nancy said she plans to make the most of her senior year, living in the moment and enjoying the rest of her time in high school. At the Schieffer journalism program, Nancy said she plans to further her passion for digital media and discover all that TCU has to offer.
