Surya Assar, 17, is a rising senior at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas.
She is interested in learning more about reporting other people’s personal stories. Surya has worked on her school’s yearbook since she was a freshman. In the fall, she will be portraits editor. She looks forward to writing feature stories for her section.
She also runs for the track and cross country teams. In her free time she enjoys playing the piano and spending time with family and friends.
Surya plans to attend college as a journalism major.
