Mia De La Torre, 15, of Fort Worth, is a rising sophomore at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy. Mia said she enjoys being on her school’s yearbook staff, cheer team and serving as the vice president of her class’s student council. When she isn’t balancing her many school activities, she said she enjoys spending time with her younger sister and brother, as well as her French Bulldog, Eloise.
Mia said in her spare time, she explores the world of cinematography. She said one of her favorite hobbies is analyzing movies and reviewing them on Letterboxd. Mia said her passion for film began at a young age after watching A Monster in Paris, which sparked her curiosity about storytelling and the world beyond her hometown. Since then, she has dreamed of studying abroad and experiencing the places that inspire the films she loves. Dead Poets Society, stoked her interest in traveling to New England. She said she was inspired by the film’s iconic message of “Carpe Diem.” Along with her love for cinema, she hopes to pursue a future in writing, whether through journalism or by publishing a book of her own. Mia said traveling the world will help her achieve those dreams.
