Haley Mullis, 14, of Grapevine, Texas, will be a freshman at Grapevine Faith.
Outside of the classroom, she fills her time with numerous hobbies. Haley has written and performed her own music since her early elementary years and plans to release some of those songs on her YouTube channel in the near future. Her voice can also be found in an as-of-yet unreleased project called “Iron Gauntlet,” for which she draws artwork.
She plans to major in liberal arts at Texas Tech.
One of her most important hobbies is skateboarding, she said. Most days she practices her skateboarding skills for hours at a time, even when injured. She is also proficient in at least five types of martial arts and has a double black belt in karate.
Haley said she joined the Schieffer Summer Journalism Camp to expand her knowledge of journalism and extend a new branch of an already vast tree of skills and interests.
